Y Ruler of Time (10:08:36 PM): Dawn breaks. Light floods across the grounds, and within the Obelisk Blue dorm, an alarm clock blares before Alex rolls over and fumbles with it a bit before successfully turning it off.
Y Ruler of Time (10:09:37 PM): "Mmph...great, another day, and still the year looks bad. No responses to my duel requests, bunch of jerks breathing down my neck, and-"
Y Ruler of Time (10:09:52 PM): "Hey..." he looks around frantically, "...where's my Duel Disk?"
TheGymRat38 (10:13:27 PM): Should Alex look closely, he will see that sitting on his desk is a small yellow note.
Y Ruler of Time (10:14:10 PM): He does. "...Oh man...no...this can't be..." He picks it up and reads it.
TheGymRat38 (10:14:50 PM): Written in scrawling red ink there is written the following.
TheGymRat38 (10:16:36 PM): "Alexander Hawkeye, we have your duel disk. If you wish to see its return come with your deck to the Well of Discarded Cards at midnight tonight.
TheGymRat38 (10:16:39 PM): If there is any indication that you have informed anyone else of this situation your duel disk will be destroyed."
Y Ruler of Time (10:20:11 PM): "...Sons of..." he crumples the note in his fist. "Fine then...I'll accept this challenge. I don't know who's behind this, although I have a couple theories...And in either case, I'll need to be prepared."
Y Ruler of Time (10:21:31 PM): He looks around briefly, before finding all four of his decks, intact, on his desk. He sits down and begins leafing through them immediately. "Alright, jerks, whoever you are...I swear I'll be ready..."

TheGymRat38 (10:25:48 PM): Ten minutes before the strike of midnight found Hayden Zandel, dressed in frayed blue jeans and a black wife-beater sitting on the edge of the well deep in the forest.
TheGymRat38 (10:26:09 PM): Right by his feet was a big brown bag, filled with unknown contents.
TheGymRat38 (10:27:50 PM): "Che...shouldn't have come early. That little uptight moralistic loser is bound to be exactly on time."
Y Ruler of Time (10:30:30 PM): "You'd be wrong on half those accounts, then," Alex remarks, stepping into the open. "One of my most prized possessions is stolen, I feel I'm allowed to get nervous and show up early."
Y Ruler of Time (10:30:46 PM): "Why am I not surprised to see you here, Zandel?"
TheGymRat38 (10:31:00 PM): "Because despite how stupid you look you're not completely dense?"

Y Ruler of Time (10:33:43 PM): "Whatever," Alex sneers, "I brought my deck, and I showed up, so let's just get this over-" His eyes suddenly catch sight of the brown bag.
TheGymRat38 (10:34:01 PM): Hayden smirks and nudges the bag. "Curious?"
Y Ruler of Time (10:34:04 PM): "That-that couldn't be..." his eyes widen, "Oh, shit..."
TheGymRat38 (10:35:07 PM): The Austrian flashes Alex a dark grin and reaches down, picking up the bag with his right hand. "I wonder...what could be in here?"
TheGymRat38 (10:35:34 PM): Closing his eyes he reaches in with his left hand, and pulls out...
TheGymRat38 (10:35:39 PM): An academy issue duel disk.
Y Ruler of Time (10:36:34 PM): "..." Alex relaxes noticeably. "Okay, sure, makes sense...heh, I can't really duel you without a disk, and you're not gonna trust me with my own."
TheGymRat38 (10:36:55 PM): "Fucking duh. See, I knew you weren't dumb." He chucks the disk towards Alex.
Y Ruler of Time (10:37:44 PM): Alex grunts slightly as he catches it. "Yeah yeah, can we just get on with this?" He slides the device onto his arm and places his deck into it."
TheGymRat38 (10:38:28 PM): "Get on with it? Sure Lexi, right after you put these on." He reaches into the bag again and pulls out a handful of black metal rings with spikes, which he tosses onto the ground in front of Alex.
Y Ruler of Time (10:39:17 PM): Alex stares speechless for a few seconds, then swears colorfully to about four deities he never bothered to recognize before.
TheGymRat38 (10:39:36 PM): "That's the kind of reaction I like. What's wrong Lexi, afraid of a little pain?"
Y Ruler of Time (10:39:42 PM): "Damn it, Hayden, I knew you were messed up, I didn't think you were actually crazy!"
TheGymRat38 (10:40:29 PM): Hayden throws his head back and laughs, the laugh itself sounding cruel and slightly insane. "Insanity is for the psychologists to determine, and since I've got enough money they decide what I tell them!"
TheGymRat38 (10:41:05 PM): Smirking he reaches into the bag again, pulling out a series of identical black spiked rings. "Don't worry Lexi, its even steven. I take the risk and get the same thrill you do."
Y Ruler of Time (10:41:20 PM): "Kh..." his teeth grit, "you don't belong at this academy, you piece of filth..."
TheGymRat38 (10:42:39 PM): He shrugs, looking more amused than ever. "Technically I don't. The only reason I wasn't kicked out is because my family donated the money for the air conditioning upgrades last year."
TheGymRat38 (10:42:47 PM): "Not to mention the money for the arts fund that lets that idiot Tanaka do his club."
TheGymRat38 (10:44:32 PM): Whistling to himself he clips the rings on one by one, onto his upper arms, his upper legs, and finally one around his neck.
TheGymRat38 (10:44:44 PM): "I don't see yours on yet Lexi."
Y Ruler of Time (10:45:38 PM): Alex fumes quietly, stooping to pick up the rings, which he handles as he would bunches of dung.
Y Ruler of Time (10:45:41 PM): 'Whatever...I just hope my PDA's recording all of this...even if his money gives him so much influence on the school, this should be enough...'
TheGymRat38 (10:48:21 PM): "I'm curious Lexi, just as a point of interest, what do your parents do for a living?"
Y Ruler of Time (10:49:09 PM): Alex shoots a glare at Hayden as he clamps the rings on, but answers anyway. "...My father's a software developer. My mother's a realtor."
TheGymRat38 (10:49:37 PM): Hayden chuckles and gives Alex a thumbs up. "Good news. If that's the case they should be able to afford your medical bills."
Y Ruler of Time (10:51:37 PM): "Violence, danger...is that all you care about? You plain disgust me if you focus on such lowly things so often! No wonder you were demoted...it's not a matter of illegal activity, you belong on the bottom with that outlook!"
TheGymRat38 (10:52:45 PM): Without a moment's pause Hayden's eyes turn dark and feral. "Don't talk down to me you little shit. I'll rip you apart!"
TheGymRat38 (10:52:53 PM): Snarling he raised his left arm, duel disk flicking into place.
TheGymRat38 (10:53:17 PM): "Every human being lives for the thrill, the excitement life can throw at them in whatever way it comes! We thrive on adrenaline and danger!"

Y Ruler of Time (10:53:44 PM): "You're not going to do anything...because no matter how arbitrary the school's rankings are, in this case they're accurate. I'm the stronger because I carry the pride of the academy's elite."
Y Ruler of Time (10:54:09 PM): "And I'm going to beat you with that...the pride of Obelisk Blue!" He pulls his opening hand free and activates his Duel Disk.
TheGymRat38 (10:54:26 PM): "Let's see how elite you are when you're screaming in pain! I'll beat that pride into the ground!"
TheGymRat38 (10:55:07 PM): He too draws his opening hand, his eyes locked on Alex's. "Are you ready to experience pain Lexi?"
Y Ruler of Time (10:56:27 PM): Alex's eyes waver only slightly before they lock on his opponent's. There is fear there, certainly. But there is also determination. "Duel."

Y Ruler of Time (10:58:16 PM): Alex frowns. 'I was hoping to get a quick glance at his strategy...the guy uses more decks than me, so...I have no idea what to expect...Despite what I just said...Hayden would be one of my worst match-ups at the school.'
Y Ruler of Time (10:58:21 PM): "I draw."
Y Ruler of Time (11:00:13 PM): "I set a monster in defense mode," he begins, "and one set card behind it."
Y Ruler of Time (11:00:16 PM): "End turn."
TheGymRat38 (11:00:35 PM): "My draw!" He slashes the first new card off his deck.
TheGymRat38 (11:01:16 PM): "This is a nice start...Nobleman of Crossout!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:02:28 PM): 'Damn it...' "Motor Shell (1300/1800) is destroyed and removed from play..."
TheGymRat38 (11:03:03 PM): "Not bad, and that means its effect doesn't go off. Good luck for me eh?"
TheGymRat38 (11:04:20 PM): "Moving on...I summon Mirage Dragon(1600/600) in attack mode!"
TheGymRat38 (11:04:32 PM): A golden serpentine dragon appears on the field, shrieking loudly.

Y Ruler of Time (11:06:33 PM): A momentary pause after the hit, and then...electricity courses through Alex's body.
Y Ruler of Time (11:06:43 PM): "AAAARRRRAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:07:14 PM): After the burst, he falls to his knees, clutching his sides and shuddering slightly.

Y Ruler of Time (11:09:48 PM): "...Shut up...jackass..." Alex climbs to his feet, and takes a few breaths before returning to a relatively normal composure.
TheGymRat38 (11:09:59 PM): He sighed and slid a card face-down into his duel disk, letting it appear behind his dragon.
TheGymRat38 (11:10:10 PM): "Glad you aren't out yet, that would have ruined my fun. End turn."
Y Ruler of Time (11:10:22 PM): "Draw..."
Y Ruler of Time (11:11:01 PM): "I activate Reasoning. Pick a level..."
TheGymRat38 (11:11:27 PM): Hayden rubbed his chin for a moment...and then smirked. "You know what? Quite frankly I don't give a shit what you summon. So..."
TheGymRat38 (11:11:43 PM): He thrust his hand out, his eyes wide and unstable. "I choose level twelve!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:12:17 PM): He sneers in response, and begins picking cards from his deck, stopping after just two.
Y Ruler of Time (11:12:50 PM): He places it on his Duel Disk, and a machine with flame-orange wings appears with a shriek. "Cyber Phoenix (1200/1600), obviously not level twelve."
TheGymRat38 (11:13:21 PM): Hayden shrugs, looking bored. "Yeah, but that metal birdy is too weak to break through my dragon."
Y Ruler of Time (11:14:00 PM): "I follow up by summoning Machine King Prototype (1600/1500)," a humanoid machine appears beside the bird-like one.
TheGymRat38 (11:14:23 PM): "Say goodbye to the Prototype!"
TheGymRat38 (11:14:31 PM): "Reverse card open, Bottomless Trap Hole!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:15:12 PM): "For someone who claims not to be as stupid as they look..."
TheGymRat38 (11:15:30 PM): "Ah shit...I forgot about your damned bird's effect."

Y Ruler of Time (11:16:49 PM): "And there's more, because Machine King Prototype gains a hundred attack and defense for each other machine on the field (1700/1600)."

TheGymRat38 (11:17:53 PM): Electricity arcs over Hayden's body, but it lasts only a few moments and he only twitches slightly.
TheGymRat38 (11:18:06 PM): "That wasn't worth anything. Come on, I want to actually get something out of this Lexi!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:18:37 PM): "Cyber Phoenix, direct attack!" the mechanical bird screaches and breathes a stream of fire at Hayden.
TheGymRat38 (11:19:18 PM): The fire sweeps over Hayden, draining more of his life points. (6700)
TheGymRat38 (11:19:39 PM): In a flash a greater surge of electricity burns into Hayden's body, far more intense than the holographic fire.
TheGymRat38 (11:19:54 PM): He clenches his jaw and his knees shudder, his arms twitching as he is shocked.
TheGymRat38 (11:20:23 PM): After several seconds the electricity stops and Hayden slumps slightly, breathing heavily. "Damn...that was more intense than I was expecting."
TheGymRat38 (11:20:39 PM): Slowly he lifts his head, revealing a wide eyed and big toothed grin. "That was the shit!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:20:58 PM): "...You're sick." Alex lowers his arms.
TheGymRat38 (11:20:58 PM): Laughing he stands up to his full height and cracks his neck. "Seriously intense stuff there, thanks Lexi!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:21:05 PM): "I end my turn."
TheGymRat38 (11:21:18 PM): "Right then, I draw!"

Y Ruler of Time (11:22:31 PM): "Discard...friend...." a sudden thought occurs to Alex. "You mean, you specifically..."
TheGymRat38 (11:22:58 PM): "I don't know what you're trying to get at actually. Instead, I'll let you meet him. My little virus!"
TheGymRat38 (11:23:20 PM): "Electric Virus(1000/1000) when discarded from my hand to the grave lets me seize control of one machine or dragon on the opponent's field!"
TheGymRat38 (11:24:58 PM): He smirks and points at the phoenix. "And your bird won't protect you from monster effects, so I'll take control of it!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:25:03 PM): "You threw that card in because you knew you were facing me...either that, or you've actually prepared the deck to face me."
TheGymRat38 (11:26:15 PM): "One of those two...you never know. Now, if you don't have a chain, I'd like my phoenix."
Y Ruler of Time (11:26:32 PM): Alex grimaces as the Phoenix floats over.
TheGymRat38 (11:27:06 PM): "Sure your Prototype was stronger, but I couldn't have you drawing an extra card could I? Now...I think I'll get rid of the phoenix."
TheGymRat38 (11:27:17 PM): "And exchange it for a superior machine of a different sort!"
TheGymRat38 (11:27:42 PM): "I sacrifice Cyber Phoenix in order to summon Jinzo(2400/1500)!"

TheGymRat38 (11:28:53 PM): The android in green armor floated down to the field, crossings its arms over its chest.

Y Ruler of Time (11:30:16 PM): Alex receives another shock, not as great as the last one but enough to make him cry out in pain and double over.
TheGymRat38 (11:30:40 PM): Hayden chuckles at the sight. "What do you think so far Lexi? Is it as exciting as you expected?"
Y Ruler of Time (11:31:17 PM): "Kh...shut up and end your turn freak!"
TheGymRat38 (11:31:30 PM): "Not quite, I've got a little bit more to do. I move into my second main phase."
TheGymRat38 (11:32:02 PM): He held out one of his last two cards. "I activate my favorite magic card, Dark Charger! Since I've played this card I can draw one additional card during my next draw phase."
TheGymRat38 (11:32:40 PM): "And then I'll set one card face down. That's all for now."
Y Ruler of Time (11:33:39 PM): "I draw!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:34:15 PM): "...From my hand, I summon Red Gadget (1300/1500)!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:35:00 PM): The stumpy machine's gear whirs as it takes the field, and Alex begins sifting through his deck. "With its effect, I add Yellow Gadget to my hand."
TheGymRat38 (11:35:47 PM): "You bring out that little gear wimp in attack mode, or defense?"
Y Ruler of Time (11:36:09 PM): "Attack mode...because Jinzo's going down right now."
Y Ruler of Time (11:36:19 PM): "From my hand I activate Fissure!"
TheGymRat38 (11:36:46 PM): Hayden sighs as the earth beneath Jinzo shatters and the machine falls deep down and away.
Y Ruler of Time (11:37:27 PM): "With that out of the way, Red Gadget attacks directly!"
TheGymRat38 (11:37:31 PM): Smirking he points at his set card. "I activate Call of the Haunted."
TheGymRat38 (11:37:40 PM): "Jinzo, welcome home!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:38:43 PM): Alex's face contorts in fear. "No..." Gulping, he casts his arm out and declares, "I recall my attack."
TheGymRat38 (11:39:03 PM): "And here you looked so confident...pity."
Y Ruler of Time (11:39:19 PM): "Then...I set a card facedown, and end my turn."
TheGymRat38 (11:39:26 PM): "Draw!"
TheGymRat38 (11:39:44 PM): "And thanks to my Dark Charger, I got to draw two cards." He waves the two new cards in his hand to demonstrate.
TheGymRat38 (11:40:09 PM): "Next up on the menu, your Red Gadget!"
TheGymRat38 (11:40:21 PM): "I activate Brain Control at a cost of eight hundred meager life points."

Y Ruler of Time (11:41:56 PM): Alex clenches his fist and clamps his teeth together to minimize the shaking.
TheGymRat38 (11:42:17 PM): "I sacrifice Red Gadget to summon...Spell Canceler (1800/1600)!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:42:22 PM): "Stealing my monsters and shutting down my strategy...it's like you made this deck just show how low you are."
TheGymRat38 (11:43:07 PM): Hayden rolled his eyes. "Believe it or not I built this deck over a year ago. So don't flatter yourself."
TheGymRat38 (11:43:44 PM): He smirks at his opponent. "For a guy who likes to study his opponents ahead of time to choose the best strategy, you sure have no room to talk knowing I did the same!"
TheGymRat38 (11:44:07 PM): "Like you I merely selected the best deck for the situation!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:45:02 PM): Alex bites his lip 'He's...he's taken my strategy and beaten me with it...I'm helpless...lucky not to have been incapacitated by pain yet...Damn...'
TheGymRat38 (11:45:58 PM): Hayden closed his eyes and tilted his head back. "Ah...this is such a relaxing moment. Savor it..."
Y Ruler of Time (11:46:34 PM): Alex shudders and lowers his head. "...Asshole..."
TheGymRat38 (11:47:35 PM): Hayden's eyes snap open and he spreads his arms out to encompass his two monsters. "Time for savoring is over! Spell Canceler, attack him directly with Spell Void Shot!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:48:28 PM): The laser hits Alex full-on in the chest, knocking him off his feet. Then, the real pain begins, and screams in agony.

TheGymRat38 (11:49:49 PM): The Austrian chuckles. "You haven't learned a full lesson in pain yet. I won't make my second direct attack until you can stand all the way up again."
Y Ruler of Time (11:51:14 PM): His breath comes in deep, rasping gasps, but Alex rolls over and pushes himself onto his knees. Before getting to his feet, he mumbles something incoherent.
TheGymRat38 (11:51:37 PM): "What was that? I couldn't quite hear you over the sound of the steam rising off your body."
Y Ruler of Time (11:52:37 PM): Alex takes a final deep breath, and stands up, glaring staunchly at Hayden. "I said your mother would've given you back to the junkyard if she hadn't been paid so much to take you."
TheGymRat38 (11:53:24 PM): Hayden stared blankly at Alex. "That'd be something of an insult if I hadn't murdered my mother."
Y Ruler of Time (11:54:12 PM): "...You really are a bastard."
TheGymRat38 (11:54:59 PM): He laughed with delight. "You actually believe that shit? Nah, my ma is alive and well. You must really think I'm seriously crazy."
Y Ruler of Time (11:55:48 PM): "I'd slap my forehead if I didn't think I'd collapse afterwards."
TheGymRat38 (11:56:16 PM): "That'd be funny to watch if I didn't intend to make you collapse my way first. Jinzo, Cyber Energy Shock!"
Y Ruler of Time (11:56:52 PM): The attack impacts, and Alex momentarily manages to brace himself and not fall over.

Y Ruler of Time (11:57:43 PM): His legs give out and his face hits the dirt with a 'thud.'
TheGymRat38 (11:57:57 PM): Hayden scratches his chin for a moment, cocking his head to the side. "That was pretty good, but I think you were sharp instead of flat. Let's try and get the note right next time, okay?"
Y Ruler of Time (11:58:04 PM): 'It hurts...damn it, why does it hurt so much...?'
TheGymRat38 (11:59:47 PM): Smirking the Austrian gave the young American duelist a thumbs down. "It looks like you're about finished. My turn ends...now."
Y Ruler of Time (12:00:30 AM): 'My turn, huh? I want to wipe the bastard's cocky smirk off his face...hell, I'd rather scrape his whole damn face off...but...'
Y Ruler of Time (12:00:44 AM): Numbly, he pulls the next card from his deck without standing.
Y Ruler of Time (12:01:08 AM): 'Hm...y'know...on second thought...'
TheGymRat38 (12:01:14 AM): Hayden frowned down at his opponent. "Just so you know, if you forfeit those shock collars will release their full voltage into you all at once. That's all their stored energy in one blast. It'd probably kill you."
Y Ruler of Time (12:01:35 AM): Alex ignores him, and begins to chuckle, before getting to his feet.
TheGymRat38 (12:01:59 AM): His eyes widen at the sight before him. "You're...laughing? So have you actually started to enjoy it?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:02:12 AM): "Puzzle...it's all a big puzzle..."
TheGymRat38 (12:02:33 AM): "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:03:19 AM): "It means I'm not finished. It means this is where I make my stand. Because just because I can't use traps or spells, doesn't mean I can't use monster effects."
Y Ruler of Time (12:03:57 AM): He places a card onto his Duel Disk, and a large, serpentine machine appears with a roar.

Y Ruler of Time (12:04:43 AM): "Cyber Dragon (2100/1600) can be summoned if you have monsters on the field and I have none...so let's keep going, shall we!? Cyber Dragon, attack Spell Cancellor! EVOLUTION BURST!"

TheGymRat38 (12:08:55 AM): "No defense is strong enough! I summon Drillroid (1600/1600) in attack mode!"
TheGymRat38 (12:09:12 AM): He snarls and points at the gadget. "Drillroid, Drill Takedown!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:09:37 AM): Alex watches unflinchingly as the gadget is destroyed.

TheGymRat38 (12:22:43 AM): "He's not stupid, if he summoned it in attack then...did he draw that card?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:23:30 AM): "I add Red Gadget to my hand...and then equip Green Gadget with United We Stand!" The little green machine's power increases significantly as it is surrounded by a golden aura. (2200/1400)

Y Ruler of Time (12:24:17 AM): "Green Gadget, destroy Drillroid!"
TheGymRat38 (12:24:47 AM): The silly looking machine is crushed succinctly, its remains crumbling. "Che...fighting back in tiny bits and pieces eh?"

TheGymRat38 (12:25:13 AM): He grits his teeth as he is zapped by the shock collars, slightly more intense then the previous time but nothing insane.

Y Ruler of Time (12:25:33 AM): "From my hand I play Smashing Ground, destroying Jinzo for the second time!"
TheGymRat38 (12:25:54 AM): "No...you killed Drillroid first because it had a higher defense!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:26:27 AM): "Like you said Hayden," Alex's sweaty, contorted face morphes into a smirk, "I'm pretty smart."
TheGymRat38 (12:26:31 AM): A massive wave of force strikes Jinzo, blowing it to pieces.
TheGymRat38 (12:27:18 AM): "Lexi...I'm impressed, and I'm having a hella good time!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:27:34 AM): "That completes the role reversal," Alex says, crossing his arms over his chest, "I end my turn."
TheGymRat38 (12:28:18 AM): "Let's find out how far that can take you! I draw!"
TheGymRat38 (12:29:22 AM): Hayden lowered his head, facing the ground. "Who would have thought...it would come to this."
Y Ruler of Time (12:29:50 AM): "Hm?" Alex quirks an eyebrow.
TheGymRat38 (12:30:41 AM): The Austrian's shoulders begin to shake...
TheGymRat38 (12:30:53 AM): And he lifts his head, grinning like a madman.
TheGymRat38 (12:31:22 AM): "From my hand...I play Premature Burial!"

TheGymRat38 (12:31:44 AM): He laughs madly even as he's electrocuted.

Y Ruler of Time (12:32:41 AM): Even with its extra power, Green Gadget is crushed

Y Ruler of Time (12:33:01 AM): Alex's knees buckles, and his teeth grind like a saw, but he bites back a scream.
TheGymRat38 (12:33:25 AM): "Oh look, all it took was you receiving only two hundred damage for you not to scream like a little girl."
TheGymRat38 (12:33:52 AM): "Come on...with as intensely as you've been fighting back can you honestly tell me you don't get a thrill out of this kind of danger and challenge?"

TheGymRat38 (12:34:25 AM): "Doesn't the pain make you feel stronger! Doesn't the danger make your blood pump with excitement!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:35:34 AM): "...Actually...the pain...makes me want to pu-" his free hand flies to his mouth and his eyes bulge, before he turns to the side and lets some rather unpleasant stuff fall from his mouth.
TheGymRat38 (12:35:56 AM): Hayden grimaces in disgust at the sight. "Che...pathetic. My turn is over."
Y Ruler of Time (12:37:18 AM): "Guh..." he wipes his hand in the grass, before pulling a card from his deck. "Draw..."
Y Ruler of Time (12:40:08 AM): 'Hm...with this, I could...well, worth a shot...'
Y Ruler of Time (12:40:24 AM): "I summon Card Gunner (400/400)!"
TheGymRat38 (12:40:49 AM): "Hoping for an extra draw?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:41:17 AM): "I activate its effect, discarding the top three cards of my deck to the graveyard to increase its attack by 1500 (1900/400)!"
TheGymRat38 (12:41:38 AM): "Hmph...did you summon it in attack then?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:41:58 AM): "You bet I did...because if this works out right, then..."
Y Ruler of Time (12:45:20 AM): "Heh..." Alex holds up the three discarded cards for Hayden to see clearly.
Y Ruler of Time (12:45:55 AM): The top is Cyber Dragon, the bottom is Yellow Gadget. The middle is Demonic Motor - Omega.
Y Ruler of Time (12:46:24 AM): "I only regret that I'll be winning this because I basically got lucky." He shoves all three cards into his graveyard.
TheGymRat38 (12:47:29 AM): "What?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:47:57 AM): "From my hand...I activate my own Premature Burial!" His life points trickle down, and from the ground emerges a red and silver behemoth of a machine.

TheGymRat38 (12:48:23 AM): "Impossible!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:48:30 AM): Gritting his teeth briefly as he is shocked, Alex pauses to mutter almost completely silently. "Ohm...lend me your power..."
Y Ruler of Time (12:49:44 AM): Then his attention is back on the duel, and he makes his next declaration. "I activate Omega's effect to increase its attack by 1000 once during the turn! At the end of this turn, it'll be destroyed..."
Y Ruler of Time (12:50:21 AM): "But I won't let you get to see that!" Ohm's back emits a huge cloud of smoke as mechanisms within churn at dangerously high speeds.

TheGymRat38 (12:50:32 AM): "No...."
Y Ruler of Time (12:51:21 AM): "It's over..." Alex points to his facedown card, one of the two which have been useless to this point, and as it flips up his Card Gunner vanishes, "I sacrifice my other machine to activate...Mega Overdrive!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:52:08 AM): "This acts as a Limiter Removal for one machine on my field...so now Omega's attack doubles!" (7600/2000)
TheGymRat38 (12:52:30 AM): Hayden stares at the giant machine...and bursts out laughing.
TheGymRat38 (12:52:47 AM): "Fine then, come and get me Omega! But things won't work exactly as you expect!"
TheGymRat38 (12:53:01 AM): "After all...these are my shock collars."
Y Ruler of Time (12:53:33 AM): "What are you suggesting?"
TheGymRat38 (12:53:38 AM): He smirks and flicks one of the spikes. "When either player's life points drop to zero..."
TheGymRat38 (12:54:08 AM): "The other player is shocked with an equal amount of energy as to the losing player! So for every ounce of damage you hit me with, you'll take the same amount in pain! Think you can handle it Lexi?"
Y Ruler of Time (12:55:12 AM): "..." Alex pauses, directing his eyes on the ground.
TheGymRat38 (12:55:31 AM): "And trust me...the final shock is always more intense than previous ones."
Y Ruler of Time (12:56:52 AM): "...Zandel...do you know what the real difference between us is? Not rank, not style...but the difference in our spirits?"
TheGymRat38 (12:57:28 AM): "Che, what the hell are you talking about? Spirits? That shit is just nonsense!"
Y Ruler of Time (12:58:33 AM): "It may sound weird, coming from a guy like me, but no...I understand it fully. The difference between us, is that you're fully willing to manipulate the rules to your own ends..."
Y Ruler of Time (12:59:54 AM): He clenches a fist and thrusts it forward, "But I'm willing to take on whatever rules are set before me and win regardless! I won't back down here, so prepare to face my strength, my spirit, MY PRIDE AS AN OBELISK BLUE!"
Y Ruler of Time (1:00:16 AM): "Demonic Motor, attack! OVERKILL OMEGA SLASH!"
TheGymRat38 (1:01:44 AM): Jinzo is plowed over by the force of the attack, which then strikes Hayden head on with every left over, which is plenty.
TheGymRat38 (1:01:54 AM): He is shoved backwards, grimacing as it happens.

TheGymRat38 (1:02:01 AM): "And now..."
TheGymRat38 (1:02:12 AM): "Let's suffer together, for the thrill of the battle!"
TheGymRat38 (1:02:36 AM): Huge waves of electricity surge through Hayden's bodies, and his body begins to spasm, his jaw clenched as tightly as he can to avoid crying out.
Y Ruler of Time (1:02:39 AM): Alex grins oddly as the shock devices hum to life. "My journey to make Kaiser...has begun..."
Y Ruler of Time (1:03:28 AM): And then he falls to the ground convulsing as the shock takes its toll, eventually leaving him motionless on the ground.
TheGymRat38 (1:04:48 AM): As Alex falls to the ground Hayden's legs start to crumple, and he plants one hand against the closest tree, his arm muscles straining as he forces himself to remain standing.
TheGymRat38 (1:04:54 AM): "Not weak...not weak..."
TheGymRat38 (1:05:09 AM): The electricity starts to fade, and he throws his head back and practically roars.
TheGymRat38 (1:05:18 AM): "Even in defeat...I'm strong!"
TheGymRat38 (1:05:48 AM): Finally it ends and his muscles twitch slightly, coming down from the jolt. "Heh...that duel...it was exciting enough to be worth it, even if I did lose."
Y Ruler of Time (1:05:58 AM): An ominous slow clap echoes off the trees.
TheGymRat38 (1:06:24 AM): Hayden's eyes widen and he straightens himself as much as he can. "Who's there?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:07:46 AM): "Your worst nightmare," hisses a figure as it emerges from the shadows, garbed completely in black clothes except for a red hood and cape, which flickers in the wind.
Y Ruler of Time (1:08:00 AM): Suddenly he puts his hands up and chuckles happily.
Y Ruler of Time (1:08:16 AM): "Hahaha, oh, do forgive me, but I always did want to say that..."
TheGymRat38 (1:08:53 AM): The Austrian stares blankly at the hooded figure. "How come I keep running into people with costume fetishes?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:09:34 AM): "Please," the hooded man says a bit defensively, "you would do well not to insult my self-designed religious garb."
TheGymRat38 (1:09:58 AM): "If its religious garb, how can it be self-designed?"
TheGymRat38 (1:10:13 AM): "More to the point, who the hell are you?"
TheGymRat38 (1:10:35 AM): He pushes away from the tree, now standing under his own power, though little tremors run through his leg muscles in protest.
Y Ruler of Time (1:11:15 AM): "Who am I?" the figure repeats, gradually approaching. The moonlight briefly illuminates his face, revealing bright blue eyes and black hair.
Y Ruler of Time (1:11:54 AM): "I am a man on a very important mission, my dear friend," he states, holding out his arms as if to embrace Hayden. "And I want you to help me accomplish it."
TheGymRat38 (1:12:28 AM): Hayden blinks, staring closely at the stranger. "A mission? What are you talking about?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:13:48 AM): A brief glint from beneath the hood reveals that he is grinning. "Your ways are quite interesting, Mr. Zandel," he says, tilting his head towards Alex.
Y Ruler of Time (1:14:34 AM): "But, unfortunately...a bit too extreme," he continues, closing the remaining space between himself and Hayden and laying a hand on the right shock device.
TheGymRat38 (1:15:07 AM): His slight smirk fades and he shoots a glare at the man's hand. Even though he knows his body isn't in the shape to fight his nature won't let him back down.
TheGymRat38 (1:15:16 AM): "Take the hand off now, or you'll regret it buddy."
Y Ruler of Time (1:15:53 AM): The demand is ignored. "Such an ingenious and yet brutally simple device," he tsks.
Y Ruler of Time (1:16:36 AM): "Able to induce pain, and bring about that state which I wish to show all...but the side-effects cannot be ignored."
TheGymRat38 (1:16:52 AM): There is a clicking sound and Hayden raises his left hand, revealing a switch blade now aimed at the other man's throat.
TheGymRat38 (1:17:03 AM): "This is a pretty brutally simple device too."
Y Ruler of Time (1:17:20 AM): The hood twists slightly to face Hayden's face. "Is there a problem, friend?"
TheGymRat38 (1:17:25 AM): "And its side-effects....well they're a bit worse. So hand, now."
TheGymRat38 (1:17:32 AM): "I hate being touched."
TheGymRat38 (1:17:47 AM): "Always have, always will."
Y Ruler of Time (1:18:42 AM): "Yes...hand, now," there is a swift motion, and suddenly a swift thumb to a pressure point in Hayden's elbow yields the forearm completely numb.
TheGymRat38 (1:20:50 AM): He snarls and moves to head-butt the offender, but the instant he does so a jolt goes through his body and it seizes up, causing him to slump to the side against the tree. "Damn it...my body won't respond right..."
Y Ruler of Time (1:20:50 AM): The figure hunches down to Hayden's level. "The immediate side-effects of the devices are not extreme, but are quite noticeable."
Y Ruler of Time (1:20:58 AM): "I, however, am concerned with what comes after. You see, repeated usage would yield the same results...a state of nirvana that boosts your normal capabilities...but eventually..."
TheGymRat38 (1:21:24 AM): "Eventually what?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:21:28 AM): "Those repeated shocks affect the circulatory system, and the heart...Vastly shortening one's lifespan."
TheGymRat38 (1:21:56 AM): "Che...as much as I ain't afraid of death I've got to say it would seriously ruin my fun."
Y Ruler of Time (1:22:04 AM): "Quite. I, therefore, am offering you an alternative."
TheGymRat38 (1:22:33 AM): He quirks an eyebrow up, further accentuating the scar over that eye. "Oh?"
TheGymRat38 (1:22:37 AM): "I'm listening."
Y Ruler of Time (1:23:16 AM): Wordlessly, the figure grabs Hayden's non-numbed arm, and begins twisting his wrist to an extremely painful angle.
TheGymRat38 (1:23:58 AM): Hayden's left eye twitches, but he just continues to stare at the other man. "That one's been broken three times. Sorry, try again another time."
Y Ruler of Time (1:25:41 AM): "If you insist," suddenly, something sharp has been thrust into the back of Hayden's hand, hitting a cluster of highly sensitive nerves.
TheGymRat38 (1:26:30 AM): This time Hayden's entire face scrunches up as he bites back the pain, his teeth grinding against the back of his lips to stop any sounds of pain from being released.
TheGymRat38 (1:26:37 AM): "Bastard...what the fuck did you do?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:27:16 AM): "You can bite it back if you want, I can tell it worked, though," the figure pulls back, revealing a small needle half-coated in blood.
Y Ruler of Time (1:27:47 AM): "The wound in your hand is small, and will heal quickly," he promised.
TheGymRat38 (1:28:23 AM): Grimacing Hayden titled his head to the side and spat blood onto the ground. "Don't care. Has this got a point, or are you just testing my threshold because you're a masochist weirdo?"
TheGymRat38 (1:28:56 AM): Despite his defiance he realizes at the moment he's rather helpless.
Y Ruler of Time (1:29:09 AM): "This is what I offer you. I can show you how to truly achieve enlightenment through pain...all without permanently limiting your physical abilities or damaging your body or...endangering your life."
Y Ruler of Time (1:29:39 AM): "I can show you the truth...I can show you power...all I ask for is your pledge."
TheGymRat38 (1:29:47 AM): "Enlightenment through pain? That's not it...I've got enlightenment."
TheGymRat38 (1:29:53 AM): He smirks.
TheGymRat38 (1:30:05 AM): "The meaning of life is the thrill, the crunch, the smash, the bang!"
TheGymRat38 (1:30:19 AM): "The meaning of life is that peak of adrenaline rush, risking your life for everything you do!"
TheGymRat38 (1:30:46 AM): "If you're not willing to do something with a willingness to risk your life then it isn't worth doing at all!"
Y Ruler of Time (1:30:54 AM): "If you are truly enlightened, my friend...then why did you lose?"
TheGymRat38 (1:31:21 AM): "Che, what the hell does enlightenment have to do with a duel? He said it himself, he won because of pure luck."
TheGymRat38 (1:31:37 AM): Then he chuckles and motions with his chin (about the only part of his body he can move well) towards Alex.
TheGymRat38 (1:31:46 AM): "And he's the one on the ground anyways, not me."
Y Ruler of Time (1:32:20 AM): The hood is suddenly up in Hayden's face, and the voice is lower, more threatening.
Y Ruler of Time (1:33:09 AM): "Yes, and you have cost me a potential convert because of it! That one will forever view the path of pain as corrupt thanks to you!"
TheGymRat38 (1:33:29 AM): "What the fuck are you talking about? Convert?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:35:13 AM): "Yes, convert, convert! A convert to my order..." He draws a necklace from his clothes, revealing a symbol to be dangling from it.
Y Ruler of Time (1:35:32 AM): It depicts an eye being stabbed with a dagger. "The Order of Holy Suffering..."
Y Ruler of Time (1:36:23 AM): "With proper, methods, I will expose the students, and the rest of this world, to the true path...their pain will enlighten them, make them stronger...and they will join me in converting those blind to the way."
TheGymRat38 (1:36:58 AM): "So you're saying what? That you started a cult that believes in pain as the path to enlightenment? Have I got that much right?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:37:38 AM): "I would prefer a different term than 'cult', but...yes."
TheGymRat38 (1:38:07 AM): He frowns slightly, thinking it through. "You said proper. What are proper methods?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:39:42 AM): A dark smirk peeks from the hood's shadow. "Curious?" he pulls out several more needles, a few significantly larger and more jagged ones. "Would you like me to demonstrate?"
TheGymRat38 (1:40:06 AM): Hayden bursts out laughing.
TheGymRat38 (1:40:23 AM): "You...to think that..."
TheGymRat38 (1:40:37 AM): He pushes down the laughter, but keeps smiling in his dark manner.
TheGymRat38 (1:41:05 AM): "Give me a name to go with the guy whose personality I can say...for the first time...I think I actually like."
Y Ruler of Time (1:42:29 AM): "Alright," he peels back the hood, revealing his face, "my given name is Kazimir Farkas. You, being a third-year, have perhaps seen me...in a different way before."
TheGymRat38 (1:43:09 AM): Hayden's eyes widen and he steps back slightly. "You? I know you. You're totally a push over nice guy!"
TheGymRat38 (1:43:18 AM): He shakes his head, looking bewildered. "What the hell?"
Y Ruler of Time (1:45:03 AM): "Is there a problem, friend?" Kazimir offers his hand.
TheGymRat38 (1:45:46 AM): He frowns, and then shrugs. "I guess not. But that face really wasn't what I was expecting."
TheGymRat38 (1:45:56 AM): He reaches out and grasps Kazimir's hand.
Y Ruler of Time (1:46:31 AM): Kazimir grins, but damn it if he still doesn't look creepily nice. "Wonderful. Welcome to the Order, Hayden."
TheGymRat38 (1:47:14 AM): "Guess so Kaz, guess so. But...there's one thing I've got to do before we can talk anymore about that."
Y Ruler of Time (1:48:32 AM): Kazimir glances briefly towards Alex's prone form. "Very well," he submits, "but no further injuring him, and make it quick. The longer we remain out here, the longer we risk discovery."
Y Ruler of Time (1:48:40 AM): "And I fear the academy is not yet ready to know of my Order."
TheGymRat38 (1:49:09 AM): Hayden nodded and walked slowly over to Alex's fallen form. He knelt down next to it and began to rifle through Alex's clothes.
Y Ruler of Time (1:49:11 AM): He turns, and heads into the forest with a sweep of his cape.
TheGymRat38 (1:49:38 AM): "Heh...I knew you were smart Lexi."
TheGymRat38 (1:50:05 AM): He holds up Alex's PDA, which has a 'recording' symbol showing on it.
TheGymRat38 (1:50:18 AM): "Sorry Lexi, but that just won't do. And...that's my duel disk you're wearing as well."
TheGymRat38 (1:50:32 AM): He peels the duel disk off, and tosses Alex's cards onto the ground around him.
TheGymRat38 (1:51:02 AM): Smirking he hurls the PDA with all of his might against the stone of the well, shattering it into dozens of pieces.
TheGymRat38 (1:51:27 AM): With that done he proceeds to remove all of the shock collars from Alex and returns them to the bag, along with the ones he was wearing.
TheGymRat38 (1:51:43 AM): Finally he reaches into the bag and pulls out the laptop duel disk that belonged to Alex.
TheGymRat38 (1:51:50 AM): "Consider this a prize Lexi."
TheGymRat38 (1:52:05 AM): He tosses it onto Alex's limp form, thumping heavily against his chest.
TheGymRat38 (1:52:23 AM): "Sleep tight little Lexi, I think I'm gonna go to bed and sleep through class tomorrow morning."
TheGymRat38 (1:52:45 AM): He walks slowly off into the woods towards the Osiris Red dorm.
TheGymRat38 (1:53:01 AM): But he could have sworn he heard a female voice call his name as he passed the well.
TheGymRat38 (1:53:16 AM): He passed it off as the electricity going to his brain and kept walking.
Viewtiful Rekk (1:56:23 AM): Shortly after Hayden's departure, a student in a freshman's Obelisk jacket walks up to Alex's motionless body and glances down at him.
Viewtiful Rekk (1:57:14 AM): "..." He sighs and puts an arm under the other student's chest and lifts him up, before silently walking back towards the Academy.
